23/05/2008 - A Good Idea from John Munslow

At our club in Exeter (ISCA) we have had a very successful initiative to reinforce/pass on the basic 'laws of the sport of bowls' which you might find of use at clubs on the Costa del Sol.

Within the club drink mats have been produced, each with a law topic explained in plain English.  These have been printed on a home computer and then laminated.

They have cost less than 10p each and have been see as an excellent aid to reinforce the knowledge without any member feeling they have been preached at by those who think they know the WB Laws.

In the UK they have been enthusiastically taken up by the English Bowls Umpires Association, and have been sent by Email to anyone who requests them.  We have already sent copies out to other countries bowling organisations and are getting very good feedback.

Our next project is to produce a similar initiative for 'Etiquette in Brief' which I hope to finalise before September 2008.

For your use if you wish, I am attaching a PDF file with the 'Bowls in Brief' details.

I am always on the look out for more items to add to 'Bowls in Brief', so if you have any additional ones you think of I should be most grateful to receive them.  (Why reinvent the wheel).

ALSO if you have nuggets of wisdom for the  'Etiquette in Brief' that you wish to send to me then again I would be grateful to receive them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards and good bowling, here in England we are just about to start our outdoor season.
