10/11/2006 - Letter from Malaga Province Umpires & Markers Association

Federation Espanola de Bolas - Lawn Bowls Section

Malaga Province Umpires & Markers Association

Dear Members,

We are writing to advise all Clubs of Committee changes within the Association. For many years Gordon and Kate Shields have co-ordinated activities but, for personal reasons, they have decided to retire from their respective “offices”.

We are extremely grateful for all the work they have done over the years and are thankful they will continue to support the new Committee and its ongoing activities.

The new Committee comprises of the following :-

Chairman                   : Geoff Land ( Tel : 952886182)

Vice-Chairman          : Gordon Adams

Secretary                   : Murray Johns ( Tel : 952 930 242 )

Many of you will be aware of the revised Laws covering the sport of Lawn Bowls. New Law Books are now available at a cost of 2 Euros and we would encourage all Members, new and experienced, to purchase a copy. This will ensure everyone is fully conversant with the Laws applicable to our Sport and will raise standards of interpretation and etiquette within our Clubs.

We will advise when the revised Laws are to be introduced into Malaga Province. It will possibly coincide with the commencement of the Summer League in June but, prior to that, we will be identifying the changes within the Laws and circularising Clubs accordingly.

Once this has been done we will be seeking to increase the number of qualified Umpires and Markers within the area. It is intended to simplify the Course from its current format and anyone interested in receiving further details can contact Murray Johns ( Secretary ) directly.

Details of the next Course will be advised to all Clubs early in 2007 and we hope to attract many of you to join us.

Yours faithfully, Geoff Land ( Chairman )                                                      10 November, 2006
