IOC Form:

It was announced, by the IOC, the short list of the candidates for the official program of the 2020 Olympic Games. Huge disappointment for bowls sport that is excluded from this list, which indicates the sports that will be further analyzed for inclusion in the Olympic program in 2020. Once again, despite all efforts, the great strength of bowls sport has not been recognized. Although CMSB had promptly complied with all requests received by the IOC, on April 18th , 2011, which had sent a questionnaire that wanted to know the main changes since 2007.

Despite the short time available (less than two weeks), the requested material had been sent on time. This thanks to the collaboration of the International Federations and particularly with the valuable help of Vice President Azema that, among other things, had created an additional dossier on CMSB which emphasized the 116 nations affiliated, the rich and enviable competitive program and the extensive geographical diffusion of the bowls sport.

One thing is certain, even if the bitterness is huge, bowls sport movement will not give up. The race continues. We must act in different directions fighting for the unity of our movement and for the recognition of all the bowls sport National Federations from their respective Olympic committees. Only in this way our strength will become increasingly evident.
