- Bryan Redington on the Sad Death of Wally Kingaby

WALLY KINGABY  (02/07/1928 – 28/11/2009)

It is with sadness that we report the death of Wally Kingaby on 28th November 2009 at the age of 81.

Arriving in Cortijo Cabrera, Turre, Spain in the mid 1980s, following his retirement from the police force, he was involved in the setting up of the David Bryant bowling centre at Cabrera and became bowls manager at Cabrera Lawn Bowling Club when it was formed in 1986.

In 1988, Wally moved to a new bowling centre at La Mata, as bowls manager, where he and his wife Doris assisted in the training of many aspiring new bowlers, until he left in late1994, to return to UK, due to Doris’s ill health.

As bowls manager in the clubs, he welcomed many visiting groups from the UK both on the greens and socially.

He took part in several Spanish National Championships, and among his bowling successes, was the winning of the pairs in 1993 and the fours in 1995.

Many, throughout Spain & UK, will have fond memories of Wally and he will be sadly missed.
