The Passing of Alma Rebecca Mendez Holmes

1920 - 2009

It is with sadness and regret that Pat's a wishes to inform you that her mother Alma passed away peacefully this Sunday morning, 4th October 2009 between 9am and 10am, in the Ellenor Lions Hospice, in Northfleet, Kent, where she received wonderful loving and gentle 24 hour care, for over five weeks.

Pat is so happy that her mother enjoyed to the full her 89 years of life, particularly the final 20 years of her life on the Costa del Sol where she was so contented.

Pat returned to the Costa del Sol on Wednesday, after having spent every day of the last three weeks in her mother's presence . Alma was so fortunate to have had such wonderful loving care in the final days of her life, both from her daughter Patricia brother John, and her brother David when he could travel from the north of England. Pat knows how much this meant to her mother, because in the earlier stages of her cancer she told her so.

"Honour your father and your mother as the Lord has commanded you, so that your days may be long and your life profitable." Exodus 20:12

It is obviously difficult to telephone everyone with the news, so Pat decided that the most efficient way to inform the majority of people is to communicate by e.mail.

She would like to thank you all for your support via the telephone, e.mails, letters and personal contact. Plus the lovely flowers Alma received and cards of support. It was only at times such as these that Patricia realised just how popular and well-like her mother really was.
