13/12/2008 - FEB Presidential Election - Tony Winterton

F.E.B. President Re-Elected.

It is a reflection of the status that Lawn bowls has achieved within the FEB that for the first time we were allocated four seats in the Electoral College that every four years elects a new President. A total of 49 seats were available for the three sections of Clubs, Players and Officials. Our four seats comprised two for clubs and 2 for players, the former being represented by Benavista and Greenlands from Andalucia and Alicante respectively whilst Tony Winterton and John Moss represented the players.

The election took place in Madrid on Saturday 13^th. December. There were two candidates, Jose Luis Boto, seeking re-election and Fernando Diestro, President of the Cantabrian Regional Federation who was challenging. The former was re-elected by 28 votes to 20 with one abstention.

The FEB has steadily increased its support for Lawn bowls from   2,950 Euros in 2005 to 12,000 Euros for 2008.
