Spanish Coaching Scheme - Ruth Compton

It has been decided to form a Spanish Bowls Coaching Scheme to benefit all Bowls Clubs in Spain.

At present we have two founder members; myself, Ruth Compton, Assistant National Coach jdrfcompton@hotmail.co.uk and Pat Metcalfe the Spanish National Coach.

I will be the co-ordinator for setting the scheme up. Pat & I have worked together over the past 20 years in England and are both experienced Coaches trained to run Coaching Courses and train new Instructors / Coaches to a high level.

At the moment a training manual is in the process of being written, when this is complete, we will invite people from all Clubs who wish to become Instructors / Coaches, to go through a training process to become qualified to work within their own Clubs for the good of New & Experienced Bowlers.

The aim is to have a competent Instructor of new bowlers, and more advanced coaches to help the up and coming bowler.

In the mean time, we know that there are many Instructors and Coaches who where trained in England, some have made themselves known but quite a few are hiding in the ditches.

We would like all who have Certificated Instructor / Coaching skills to come out of the ditches & onto the Green to help us get this Scheme off the ground. We have the blessing of the Federation to set this up, but, we cannot do it without your help.

At the moment, anyone wishing to become qualified has to go back to the UK for their qualification & it is a long drawn out process compared to what we plan to do here in Spain.

Further information will be available later in the year, but you can register your interest in the scheme by e-mailing me at the above address.

Ruth Compton.
