Spanish National Championships - 2008 - Newsletter

The 2008 championships are now in the final stages of preparation. Despite problems encountered due to promised major sponsorship being withdrawn at a late stage, the event still has the green light and goes ahead as planned.

The opening ceremony is at Quesada B.C. on Saturday 10th May. Participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes beforehand. Dress for those taking part in the parade is club colours or whites, with skirts or long trousers.

To answer queries raised over the dress code while playing, coloured shirts and jackets may be worn, but have to be in club colours, as approved by clubs. Every member of a team must wear the same colour. Headgear must be white, but badges of sponsors, clubs, manufacturers of the headgear, etc. are allowed. The common headgear bearing the Spanish badge and stripe in Spanish colours is also permissible. In essence, if headgear is predominantly white, there should be no problem.

The official programmes for the event have already been delivered to Malaga and Costa Blanca South. Arrangements have been made for delivery to Costa Blanca North on 30th April and Almeria on 4th May.

Practice times at the venues are shown below. Competitors are reminded that play at any venue on a day on which it is in use during the championships is not permitted.
