At a meeting of the Provincial committee held at Mijas B.C on Wednesday 26^th July 2006 it was announced that Kate Shields had resigned as Competition Secretary. The Committee expressed their thanks to Kate for the work done for the Federation and lawn bowls in general and the Delegate advised that a presentation would be made to her at the first possible opportunity. As a result and arising out of the increased activity anticipated for the next season it was decided to strengthen the Committee which remained constituted as follows:

The Federation will be managing the following events during 2006/7 season, 

National Team trials 29^th/30^th October. The National Executive wish to increase the squad from which the National Team is selected. Clubs wishing to nominate players should contact Tony Frowd

Malaga Cup 6^th/12^th December 2006, Mijas BC

Xmas Hamper 16^th December, Benalmadena BC

Andalucian Championships, 1^st/8^th February 2007, Mojacar, Almeria

Details of very reasonable accommodation will be circulated with the entry forms.

Friendship Cup, 27^th/28^th February 2007,  Mojacar, Almeria

The basis for entry has been changed. Clubs will be encouraged to put forward teams of four players which need not necessarily be from the same club.

National Championships, Preliminary singes rounds

The format for this event will be announced at a later date.

National Champion of Champions, Singles, Ladies and gentlemen

Club Championships – Ladies and Gentleman’s Pairs 

These are new events sponsored by the Federation for Club members.  Clubs should advise the Competition Secretary when they intend to hold the event. Winners will be invited to take part in the National Champion of Champion events.

Summer League 2006

This event has proved to be extremely popular and will be played again in 2007 but will start earlier in June and our presentation dinner will be held at the end of July. A suggestion has been made for the venue and John Owen will make the necessary enquiries.

Winter Night’s Bowls League 2006/7.

This is a new event proposed for the coming season, open to Federated members and to be played in the evenings under floodlights.

Each club will nominate sixteen bowlers to play a format of 1 rink, 1 triple, 1 pairs, 1 gent’s singles, 1 ladies singles with a possible 1000€ prize money available to the winners.
