Costa del Sol Bowler Rankings for Season 2009/2010

In the season 2009/10, concluding the 2010 Provincial Champs., certificates & prizes will be awarded to club members from the Costa del Sol who finish in the top 5 positions of the rankings.

Prizes will be awarded in euros as follows:-

The latest rankings for 2009/2010, including Belplaya Open.

Details of Method Employed

• Each event   included in the ranking system has a weighted number of points. (see list below).

• The number of points awarded to a bowler depends on 3 factors:-

  1. The weight of the event - W.

  2. The discipline eg singles=1, pairs=2, triples=3 & fours=4 - D.

  3. The finishing position ie winner=1, runner-up=2 - P.

• The points awarded for an event are calculated as follows:-

  For P=1      W divided by D.

  For P=2      W divided by D and multiplied by two thirds.

  NB: due to the difficulty of collecting data and the extra input required, semi-finalists no longer attract points.

List of Events Included in the Rankings

NB For the first time, in the 2008/2009 season the producers of the Costa del Sol Handbook have included only one major event from each club, leaving the individual clubs to promote the remaining events themselves. The scheduling policy which goes in hand in hand with this innovation is that, whilst major events may not overlap, the rest may. This may result in many scheduling conflicts amongst the group of non-major events. I have therefore decided to for clarity, fairness & simplicities sake to only include the major events for the 2008/2009 season.

Note: the above list may be amended according to any important changes to the new season's Costa del Sol Handbook.
