Saturday 17th February

422 Competition

We held a 4.2.2 competition where five teams of four bowlers played a game of rinks in the morning then two games of pairs in the afternoon. Although the morning got off to a bit of a shaky start this was very soon sorted out and a great day of bowling was enjoyed by everyone involved. After the game we all retired to LoungeD for a drink, thanks to Lou and Jed for providing the nibbles. Our club captain Ronnie Cairns presented the winning team Sheila Roberts, John Hunt, Chris and Joan Harding with a bottle of wine each. The wine was kindly donated by Lou and Jed.

Ladies Invitation

On Saturday 10th March the Monte Mar Bowls Club staged its annual “Ladies Invitation” day in memory of our first Honorary President Bernard Pearce. This year twenty teams took part and each pair played two games of ten ends against drawn opposition. Following the four sessions of play the winners were Jan Webster and Mick Soars who achieved the maximum of four points from their two games with a shot difference of twenty four. Second were Jan Garward and Dave Roberts who also got four points but their shot difference was sixteen. After the event the club went to Rogers Bar for a lovely buffet provided by the club, the winning couple were presented with the Bernard Pearce Memorial Plaque. It was a lovely “Monte Mar” day much appreciated by all those who took part.
