Social bowling with “spot prizes” thrown in was the order of the
day at Mijas BC’s Saint Valentine’s fun morning on February 14th.
Thirty six bowlers decked in Valentine regalia played three
matches of six ends, but with lots of distractions, including a
lover’s quiz, poker, bingo and the highlight of the day, a
singing contest, all of which took place on the green!
To add to
the mayhem and to reduce the possibilities of the “usual
suspects” carrying off the trophies, the triples were drawn
before each game and bowling positions rotated. Ray Nelson,
added a steadying influence to the proceedings by keeping the
scores.
To
complete the enjoyment, participants and spectators attended a
spectacular presentation roast buffet lunch at the Kontiki
restaurant, Los Boliches, organised by Rob & Geraldine Robinson.
The multitude of prizes were presented by event organiser, John
Carr, ably assisted by Doris Mellor. On accepting their prizes,
“The Mijas Belles”, Geraldine Robinson, Christine Sims, Val
Thornton, Carol Jacobs, Edna Porter and Christine Wilson, gave a
rousing rendition of “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean”, the number
that won them the singing contest, (bravely judged by barman for
the morning, Kevin Bloe).
Special
prizes went to fancy dress winners, Angela John and Bob Jacobs
and match winners, Tony Porter, Shirley Bic and Bill Smith.
Mijas BC,
Club President, Phillip Parnell, wound up a successful occasion
by thanking participants and organisers.
