New Blood

Is this the New Future Of Bowling In Spain?

Summer 2009 - Emerald Isle BC

Report & photos by Keith Jones.

During the summer there was this little face peering over the wall whilst his dad worked at  complex. After a while he became critical of some of the bowlers and the bowls played. Denis his dad said Dylan would love to have a go.

So 8 year old Dylan became newly qualified instructors June and Keith Jones'  first victim. Unfortunately there was not a small enough size bowl to fit these little hands but what an enjoyable session was had. Denis coped very well with size 1 bowls and mastered the delivery of the jack, the bias of the bowls and the green to take. After an hour he was heard to say "this is easy" . There followed two more sessions before school term started and he had proper work to do. Hopefully Dylan will tell his school chums and girls what a good game bowls is and encourage them also to have a go. Who knows this could be the start of getting youngsters and schools interested in the game once called 'Old Man's Marbles'.
