Comment on the letter by Derek
Shemmings.
It was so good to read your
comments. It was well worth 'having the patience' as you say
to
read to the end of your letter.
After playing the game at a
reasonable level from 1963 to 1986 in the UK I moved to Spain
and
had the pleasure of playing with and
against you on many occasions throughout the years
(1986 - 2003) in both league and
competitions. I and many of my colleagues of that period can
confirm every comment you make about
that period.
Unfortunately, over recent years, we
have found that the winning of the game has become more
important than just taking part.
You ended by saying 'it is just a game of bowls' - so very true.
I hope both you and your wife Pam
are keeping well.
