25/06/2009 - Lisa Bonsor - In Support of Nick Bunbury

Having returned from The Atlantic Championships after spending 3 weeks with the Spanish squad and Mr Bunbury as National Coach, I would like to respond to the rumours that are doing the rounds regarding his comments in the Valencian Championships program.
It would seem that some of the comments have offended some people. All I can say is that there is nothing in that report that is not true and anyone taking offence from the comment must be the people he is referring to.
We could and should have moved the dates of the Nationals to enable the Squad to take part. How can anybody who wins these so called Nationals claim to be Champions when some of the best bowlers in Spain could not take part. Tony Mckenna won the singles, pairs and trips last year and was robbed of his chance to defend his titles by an out of touch committee.

Regards LISA BONSOR
