23/04/2009 - Rick Wright - Atlantic Championships

Below is some information that might be useful for all the Federated bowlers in Spain who are not involved in the 2009 Atlantic Championships soon to take place in South Africa. I suppose that only includes about 99%+ of us. Many like myself would probably like to follow the daily progress of the squad and the competition. Some may know how to do this, for the others here is how. Go to www.worldbowls.co.uk then click enter then click on results in the left hand column, that will take you to the site that will be updated daily when the championships start on the 4th May. We cannot be there to support them but will be able to follow our squad right through the tournament.

For a bit more in depth information on both the draw and also on what appears to be the most superb venue, I just entered Wanderers Bowls Club Johannesburg on Google and up jumped a whole host of sites full of interest. I opened many and browsed, but one in particular, (the 7th on my list) headed  "International" was really informative. Click it and when it opens just scroll down to Atlantic Championships there you will find information showing all the groups and the full order of play. I have printed this off for our club notice board to keep our members informed.

We have some tough opposition but I am sure many will join me in wishing the squad a safe journey, good bowling and good luck.

Rick Wright
