11/03/2007 - Tony Bilbie on Working Bowlers

First of all may I congratulate you on what appears to be a very good site as well as an excellent organisation that I was unaware even existed.

As a bowler of 25 years + in the UK, I am interested in how your governing body is set up and how it operates the national championships (I have seen much debate on your site). Although not directly connected with the EBA or EIBA, I ahve participated in the UK national championships and am more than happy to share any information you may need.

I have been coming to Spain for many years and although have played bowls at a few of your clubs as a tourist, I had never realised that it had such an organised structure with leagues and competitions.

As a competitive bowler planning to move to the Costa del Sol, I am a little concerned that it appears all of the leagues and competitions are unsuitable for full time workers, with these games being played during the day and not at evenings and weekends.

I will be more than happy to apologise if I have got completely the wrong idea, and if I have then I will be extremely interested in joining a club to play a full part in the clubs activities.

However, if I have not I fear that not only will it mean that I cannot play, I will not be able to have a constructive input into how the game is portrayed in Spain. There is only so many "friendly" games I will be able to stomach.

If anyone wishes to discuss this further, I would welcome the feedback - tonybilbie@hotmail.com

Finally, keep upthe good work not only at your clubs, but at a national level as well.

Regards, Tony Bilbie
